Why study this course?

Course Overview

You should choose this course if you want to follow a path that integrates practical, critical and theoretical study. If you want to express yourself creatively, through a variety of media and techniques, then this is the course for you.

What will I study?

You will study art from an academic view, responding to the world around you and taking your ideas into visual outcomes. These visual outcomes will be highly skilled and hold meaning to both the producer and the viewer due to the rigorous development and refinement of the visual journey.

How is this course assessed?

You will complete a personal investigation worth 60%. This involves a major in-depth, critical, practical, and theoretical investigative project and outcomes which are based on themes and subject matter that have personal significance. It will also include an extended written element of 1000 words minimum, which may contain images and texts. You will also complete an externally set assessment worth 40%, which involves a preparatory study period and a 15 hour period of sustained focus work.

What can I study with this course?

Fine art complements the creative courses of textiles, graphics and photography well. However, many students often choose to study it alongside the humanities and sciences. Students wishing to study architecture often choose to combine it with mathematics.
