Your First Days at D6

Your journey at D6 begins with a friendly, informative, and engaging start! Our first days are designed to help you settle in, get to know our staff and students, and feel excited about all the opportunities ahead. Here’s a general overview of what you can expect when you join us for your first days at D6.

Day ONE

Day 1: What to Expect

1. Welcome Assembly

Kick off your day with a welcome assembly led by our team. You’ll hear about D6’s values, our pastoral support, and essential information to help you navigate the campus. This assembly also gives you a chance to meet other new students and start building connections.

2. Meet Your Form Tutor

You’ll meet your form tutor, who will guide you through essential information, including your timetable, attendance expectations, and student policies. This session is also a chance to ask questions, receive your student handbook, and learn about available support, like bursaries.

3. Getting to Know Your Peers

Throughout the morning, we’ll mix in fun activities and icebreakers so you can start making friends. These activities are relaxed, helping you get to know fellow students in a comfortable environment. There’s also time to settle any administrative details, like taking your student ID photo.

4. Breaks and Lunch

Enjoy breaks in our Sixth Form area, where you can relax and chat with new friends. Lunch is a great chance to explore the social spaces, check out the Sixth Form Café, or simply unwind.

5. Exploring Future Pathways

The afternoon often includes a careers fair, where you’ll meet representatives from universities, apprenticeships, and local employers. This is a fantastic opportunity to start exploring future pathways and get inspired about where your studies might lead.

Day 2: Off-Campus Adventure

University Visit
As part of your induction, you’ll experience a taste of university life with a visit to one of our partner universities. This day gives you insight into what higher education offers, including workshops on budgeting, planning, and university life. You’ll also enjoy a campus tour to see facilities up close and get a feel for life after D6.

‍Interactive Workshops
During the university visit, expect hands-on sessions, from interactive budgeting workshops to talks on goal-setting and making the most of your time in Sixth Form. These sessions are designed to get you thinking about your ambitions and help you take steps towards achieving them.

‍Team-Building and Fun
The day wraps up with team-building activities to bring you closer to your classmates. Whether it’s a problem-solving challenge or a creative activity, these sessions help you bond, work together, and have fun!
